Climate Niche Modelling for Mapping Potential Distributions of Four Framework Tree Species: Implications for Planning Forest Restoration in Tropical and Subtropical Asia

چکیده
Selecting tree species to plant for forest ecosystem restoration is critical but problematic. Knowing species’ climatic niches can help, such information limited most tropical species. Consequently, the research presented here explored use of climate and record location data, map potential distribution four across subtropical Asia based on their modelled niches. All were framework species, proven effectiveness restoration: Choerospondias axillaris (Roxb.) B.L. Burtt A.W. Hill, Ficus hispida L.f., Hovenia dulcis Thunb., Prunus cerasoides Buch.-Ham. ex D. Don. Potential distributions projected onto maps known conditions using maximum entropy algorithm in Maxent software predict where conducive including each trials. The models predicted very well F. H. fairly P. C. axillaris. Climatically suitable areas located mostly north equator, whilst those hispida, extended south equator. importance niche variable differed among Driest-month precipitation was as mean dry-season temperature cold-season dulcis. In addition aiding selection restoration, indicate novel plantations might be successful become invasive. Applying techniques a large number will needed significantly improve restoration.

Selection of Native Tree Species for Subtropical Forest Restoration in Southwest China
The use of native species in forest restoration has been increasingly recognized as an effective means of restoring ecosystem functions and biodiversity to degraded areas across the world. However, successful selection of species adapted to local conditions requires specific knowledge which is often lacking, especially in developing countries. In order to scale up forest restoration, experiment...

Growing population and enhanced demand for fuelwood, timber and agricultural land are causing a rapid deforestation process throughout the tropics and subtropics. This pressure on the forest land is being accompanied by increasing occurrence of human-caused wildfires. In most cases the fires are following in the wake of the exploitation of natural forests and the slash-and-burn shifting agricul...
متن کاملA framework for using niche models to estimate impacts of climate change on species distributions.
Predicting species geographic distributions in the future is an important yet exceptionally challenging endeavor. Overall, it requires a two-step process: (1) a niche model characterizing suitability, applied to projections of future conditions and linked to (2) a dispersal/demographic simulation estimating the species' future occupied distribution. Despite limitations, for the vast majority of...
